About This Spot

Pulling up to Latham Saloon, you immediately feel the quiet rhythm of small-town Kansas, where time moves a little slower and conversations linger like the soft hum of a country ballad on the radio. The weathered wooden sign, the modest storefront, and the gentle bustle inside invite you into a space that feels much like an old friend’s living room — familiar, unpretentious, and welcoming.

Inside, the atmosphere is grounded and genuine, the kind of place where cowboy hats and well-worn boots share space with heartfelt stories and seasoned smiles. The pace is easy; it’s not about rushing, but about settling in, whether you choose a spot at the bar to catch the local rhythm or a table off to the side to soak in the room’s calm energy. The saloon hums with a respectful nod to tradition, framed by the quiet confidence of those who call the community home.

Food here weaves effortlessly into the experience — it isn’t showcased but rather served as a natural extension of the place’s character. Expect the kinds of meals that pair perfectly with a cold drink and friendly company, meals that carry the comforting, no-frills heartiness of Kansas’ backroads. The fare reflects a straightforward approach, honest and satisfying, much like the people you’ll find gathered here.

There’s a quiet pride in the consistency found at the Saloon, a testament to a kitchen tuned to the preferences of a loyal local crowd. It’s a spot where weekend evenings might be marked by the slow savor of a perfectly cooked steak, and any day of the week welcomes a variety of simple, thoughtfully prepared options that speak to the land and those who work it.

Visiting Latham Saloon is about more than just a meal or a drink — it’s an invitation to step off the beaten path and into a place that feels woven into the fabric of its surroundings. You come away with more than a full stomach; you encounter a slice of everyday life, warm and unspooled, where every handshake feels like a welcome and every moment holds a quiet piece of home.

Great place to get a Saturday evening steak. Food is very consistent. Real cowboy atmosphere because most of the patrons are real cowboys/ranchers. Chad provides multiple cusines during the week.

Best restaurant in Latham! If you are looking for a true small town eatery, don't miss this stop. The fried catfish was delicious and the Latham Club sandwich was too notch. Cold suds and good grub.

Small town ambience in a saloon cafe. Take to the back roads to experience the real Kansas and stop by for a good meal. Latham Saloon in Latham, KS.

To reach the Latham Saloon I took the wondrous SE Stony Creek Road, off US Route 400. If you like off-the-beaten-path Americana, the Saloon meets the standard. (Latham's population is 100 +/-, so neither traffic nor parking is an issue.) Once inside the Saloon, I was warmly greeted, took a seat at the bar, and was promptly served. Though "good food" is based on personal preferences, I will say, for me, the August 8, 2024 hot three-meat special was well worth the journey from the "nearby" Beaumont Hotel. And the sunset motorcycle ride back on SE Stony Creek Road was as delicious as the homemade apple pie I took back to the hotel.

No matter the type of food, we can always count on flavor and value. Their Saturday Steak Night consistently delivers on some of the best Kansas raised Rib Eyes we have ever eaten. The staff is always friendly and prompt. Anytime we can make the drive, we head that way. Doesn't matter if it is for their Italian Night, Chicken Fried Steak Night, Mexican Night, or even Crawfish Boil...we know the food will be full of flavor!

I was headed to the nearby lake to camp for a night and stopped here for a late lunch/early supper. I had the special and didn't realize how hungry I was. I chatted with the owner who is a real friendly guy. He also cooked my food. Very affordable eats.
